Francophone Climate Negotiations Bulletin Focuses on Pre-2020 Ambition

The International Institute for Sustainable Development's Reporting Services (IISD RS) has released the sixth in a series of seven French language bulletins produced in the lead up to the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the UNFCCC, convening in Paris, France, in November-December 2015.

IISD RS - OIF - IFDD - Senghor University27 November 2015: The International Institute for Sustainable Development’s Reporting Services (IISD RS) has released the sixth in a series of seven French language bulletins produced in the lead up to the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) to the UNFCCC, convening in Paris, France, in November-December 2015. The bulletin focuses on pre-2020 ambition.

The bulletin is published by the International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF), through its subsidiary body, the Institute for Sustainable Development of the Francophonie (IFDD), in partnership with IISD RS, Médiaterre and Senghor University.

This sixth issue features an update on opportunities for high mitigation potential, including those having co-benefits in terms of adaptation, health and sustainable development, in the period 2015-2020. The bulletin addresses key issues related to the draft decision on the level of ambition, including on mitigation, strengthening the Process Technical Review (PET), increased support, accelerated implementation and stakeholder engagement. It also contains a summary of recent meetings and other news related to the climate negotiations, including: the G20 Summit in Turkey; the 2015 Ministerial Meeting of the International Energy Agency (IEA); an open letter from business leaders and civil society representatives to heads of state in favor of an ambitious agreement on climate change; and the scenario note for the ADP meeting.
