First Asian 10YFP Meeting Considers Strategies to Advance SCP

The First Asia Pacific Meeting of 10-Year Framework of Programmes (10YFP) for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), organized by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) as 10YFP Secretariat together with the governments of Indonesia, Republic of Korea and Thailand and with support from the EC, convened from 7-8 November 2013, in Bangkok, Thailand.

The meeting considered strategies and joint actions to advance SCP efforts in the region, aiming to craft a road map to guide regional SCP efforts.

According to UNEP, the Asia-Pacific region currently accounts for more than half of the world’s total resource use.

The 10YFP is a global framework of action was adopted at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) to enhance international cooperation and accelerate SCP patterns in developed and developing countries.
