21 April 2011: The Farmers Major Group has announced its process to prepare input for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

The Farmers Major Group has indicated that it will be working to prepare a submission on the two themes of the UNCSD by the UNCSD Bureau’s deadline of 1 November 2011. This Major Group has welcomed farmer organisations to make direct submissions or to participate in the joint submissions.

The Group has invited international, regional and national farm groups interested in following the process to join the Farmer Listserve. Other groups interested in supporting farmers are encouraged to join the “Friends of Farmers” listserve.

The Group also has provided instructions for participation in the UNCSD in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in June 2012. [Announcement from Farmers Major Group]
