FAO’s Multipartner Programme Support Mechanism Receives Funding
story highlights

The Multipartner Support Mechanism (FMM) of the FAO, which aims to allow FAO partners to allocate contributions that are not tied to a specific programme, has received voluntary contributions of US$26 million for use by 2013 from Sweden and the Netherlands.

29 November 2009: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) announced that its Multipartner Support Mechanism (FMM) has received voluntary contributions of US$26 million for use by 2013 from Sweden and the Netherlands.

The FMM aims to allow FAO partners to allocate contributions that are not tied to a specific programme, but rather go straight into the FAO budget, thus allowing the FAO greater flexibility in using funds to meet its objectives. Sweden’s contribution of almost US$19 million will be used for activities to address climate change through sustainable natural resource management and improved rural livelihoods, while the Netherlands’ contribution will support policy assistance and capacity building at the country level.
