FAO Releases Report on Gender and Climate Change
story highlights

The report highlights that men and women perceive and experience climate variability differently and suggests appropriate adaptation strategies.

October 2010: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a report titled “Farmers in a changing climate: Does gender matter? Food security in Andhra Pradesh, India.” The report demonstrates that men and women perceive and experience climate variability differently based in part on their gender roles and differentiated access to resources. The report makes recommendations on addressing gender issues in the context of climate change adaptation, particularly with regard to food security and farming-based livelihoods.
