fao_headquarters9 August 2015: In anticipation of the XIV World Forestry Congress (WFC2015), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has created a catalogue of a selection of its publications, organizing them according to the Congress’s six sub-themes. The publication, which lists over 100 reports, policy briefs and other FAO documents, facilitates the dissemination of information on forests and forest peoples, as well as on FAO’s work.

Titled ‘Selected FAO Forestry and Other Publications 2015,’ the catalogue describes each of the publications briefly, noting its language(s), page count and ISBN number. The Congress themes by which it is organized are: forests for socioeconomic development and food security; building resilience with forests; integrating forests and other land uses; encouraging product innovation and sustainable trade; monitoring forests for better decision-making; and improving governance by building capacity.

In addition, the catalogue includes a section on forthcoming titles, such as ‘Forests, Wood Products and Climate Change Mitigation,’ ‘Global Guidelines for the Restoration of Degraded Forests and Landscapes in Drylands,’ ‘Forty Years of Community-Based Forestry’ and ‘Knowledge Reference for National Forest Assessment.’ An alphabetical index of all the titles is also included, and the print version of the catalogue contains a CD-ROM.

WFC2015 will take place 7-11 September 2015 in Durban, South Africa. [Publication: Selected FAO Forestry and Other Publications 2015] [FAO Website]
