FAO9 October 2013: At the 40th meeting of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) rolled out a collection of activities and publications supporting the ‘Voluntary Guidelines on the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests in the Context of National Food Security.’

In particular, the FAO launched a technical guide titled, ‘Improving Governance of Forest Tenure,’ which outlines a collection of tools and their appropriateness under a variety of contexts and is the second in a series of technical guides. Complementing this technical guidance, the FAO also launched the first in a series of e-learning modules to support understanding of the Voluntary Guidelines.

In addition, the FAO held a side event on progress in supporting the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines, while the UK Department for International Development (DFID) hosted a side event on how to include land tenure security and property rights in the post-2015 agenda.
