FAO, CPF Official to Lead UN’s Participation in Expo 2015

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced the designation of Eduardo Rojas-Briales, Assistant Director-General for Forestry, Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and Chair of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), as Commissioner-General for the UN's participation in Expo 2015.

27 February 2013: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has announced the designation of Eduardo Rojas-Briales, Assistant Director-General for Forestry, Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and Chair of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF), as Commissioner-General for the UN’s participation in Expo 2015.

Expo 2015, taking place in Milan, Italy, from 1 May-31 October 2015, will have the theme, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.” The UN notes that this theme is in line with the UN focus on food security, nutrition, sustainable development and climate change.

The FAO, the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the World Food Programme (WFP), and Bioversity International, a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) are organizing the UN’s contributions to the Expo, highlighting its efforts related to the themes of the event.
