FAO and FEM Announce Partnership for European Mountain Forests

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the Edmund Mach Foundation (FEM) have announced a partnership to strengthen knowledge and capacity for sustainable forest management (SFM) in Europe.

FAO7 October 2013: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the Edmund Mach Foundation (FEM) have announced a partnership to strengthen knowledge and capacity for sustainable forest management (SFM) in Europe.

The partnership is intended to focus on watershed management especially in light of projected global changes. The objectives of the partnership are to support forest-based livelihoods and the delivery of multiple benefits from forests while preserving important ecosystem services.

Themes covered under the partnership include bioenergy, biodiversity and non-wood forest products, mountain watershed management and mountain forest ecosystem services. Intended outputs include publications, joint events and a selection of case studies. [Mountain Partnership Website]
