4 June 2015: The European Commission convened its annual Development Days with a focus on the post-2015 development agenda as it relates to issues of human rights, food, climate, energy, health, gender, social inclusion and urbanization, among other concerns.
The multi-stakeholder event took place from 3-4 June 2015, in Brussels, Belgium, attracting around 5,000 participants from the fields of development cooperation, human rights and humanitarian aid, representing 1,200 organizations.
The event was structured around four themes: creating sustainable growth within the limits of our planet; developing a shared vision of universal and fundamental rights; ‘each of our policies can make a difference’; and ‘we are all actors in development.’
Besides many dialogue sessions, the event showcased examples of European development cooperation with 50 exhibition stands. Young adults aged 21-26 years were invited to engage in various panel sessions.
The EU has dubbed 2015 the European Year of Development, based on the motto: ‘Our world, our dignity, our future.’ [European Development Days 2015 Website] [Agenda Overview]
