3 December 2008: At a side event held during the UN Climate Change Conference in Poznan, Poland, two least developed countries shared their experience in integrating climate change risks into various sectors, including agriculture and health through the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF).

The Fund was created under the auspices of the UNFCCC in 2001 and is administered by the Global Environment Facility (GEF). Samoa explained how LDCF resources were used to enhance the technical and organizational capacities of the Samoa Meteorological Division.
Eritrea described an LDCF project to test options for more climate resilient livestock management systems at the local level. Over 40 countries use LDCF to finance adaptation action on the ground through preparing and implementing National Adaptation Programs of Action. [GEF Press Release]
