EEA Engages “Generation ’92” in Sustainable Futures Video Competition

The European Environment Agency (EEA) invited young people born around 1992 to demonstrate their visions for sustainable futures to highlight the 20th anniversary of the Earth Summit, ahead of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Videos highlight a number of sustainable development issues, such as: recycling; climate change; protecting the planet; waste; the role of industry stakeholders; and water conservation.

EEA20 April 2012: The European Environment Agency (EEA) invited people born around 1992 in Europe to demonstrate their visions for sustainable futures, to highlight the 20th anniversary of the UN Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED, or Rio Earth Summit) held in 1992, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The entries use animation, journalism, fiction and video montages to communicate messages about sustainable development.

Twenty finalists can be viewed online, and public votes will determine the “Buzz Prize.” Three cash prizes will be awarded to the best video. Public voting ends on 7 May, and the prize winners will be announced on 9 May, ahead of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
