EBRD Invests in Energy Efficiency in Poland

30 August 2012: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Developing (EBRD) announced that it is investing €35 million in energy efficiency projects in Poland. A 8.5-year loan to Metsä Tissue Oyj, one of the leading European suppliers of tissue and cooking paper, will seek to improve energy and resource efficiency, and reduce air emissions and consumption of water and electricity.

Lucyna Stanczak, EBRD Director for Poland, noted that the loan will support energy efficiency investments in the corporate sector. Markus Holm, Chief Financial Officer of Metsä Tissue Oyj, said the financing will contribute to environmental and energy efficiency improvements. [EBRD Press Release]
