EBRD and Armenia Sign MoU to Develop Clean Energy Action Plan

8 March 2012: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is helping Armenia develop an action plan with cleaner energy development measures.

Olivier Descamps, EBRD’s Managing Director for Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia and Armen Movsissyan, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Sustainable Energy Action Plan for Armenia (SEAP), which will promote energy efficiency investments as well as legislation for such investments. The SEAP will help local companies and households reduce their energy consumption and costs, as well as assist Armenia in the use its significant potential for the development of hydro power plants.

The MoU is part of the EBRD-led policy dialogue activities across the EBRD’s countries of operation. [EBRD News]
