Earth Day Network Seeks One Billion Commitments by Rio+20

Earth Day Network has launched a sustainability campaign and a campaign for commitments by individuals, corporations and governments in honor of Earth Day, with the goal of registering one billion acts of environmental service on the Earth Day Network website before the UN Conference on Sustainable Development.

6 April 2011: Earth Day Network has launched a campaign titled “Global Days of Conversation,” to create a platform for leaders to promote community conversations on challenges and opportunities related to sustainability. The group that organizes Earth Day, Earth Day Network also announced the campaign for Earth Day 2011: “A Billion Acts of Green.”

In 2011, the Global Day of Conversation will convene at least 500 local leaders around the world. Following these events, Earth Day Network will compile success stories and best practices and disseminate a report to local governments worldwide.

With the Billion Acts of Green campaign, Earth Day Network is building commitments by individuals, corporations and governments in honor of Earth Day, with the goal of registering one billion acts of environmental service on the Earth Day Network website before the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
