The Working Group of the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe (MCPFE) on exploring the potential added value of and possible options for a legally binding agreement (LBA) on forests in the pan-European region took place from 1-2 September 2009 in Rome, Italy.

Participants discussed recommendations of possible elements of an LBA, cost assessments, and possible implications for international forest agreements, bodies and processes. Participants also decided on an appropriate negotiation process.
