June 2012: The latest issue of “DESA News,” the newsletter of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA), features a timeline of the background to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The timeline includes key milestones on the “Stockholm-to-Rio continuum” of conferences from 1972-2012, such as the birth of international agreements on sustainable development, and asks how we moved “from Environment to Sustainable Development.”

Another feature – “What is going to happen in Rio?” – compiles the various components of the Conference, namely: side events, voluntary commitments, the Third Meeting of the UNCSD Preparatory Committee (PrepCom III), Sustainable Development Dialogue Days, Partnerships Forum, and the Conference itself.

The newsletter also flags the upcoming launch on 7 June 2012 of the “World Economic Situation and Prospects, Mid-2012” report. [Publication: DESA News, Vol. 16, No. 6]
