UNDESAMarch 2016: The UN has launched the full version of the ‘Partnerships for SDGs’ online platform, which informs users about initiatives carried out by multi-stakeholder partnerships in support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As of 28 March, the platform contains information on 1,986 partnerships.

The Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) initially developed the platform in response to a call from the 2012 Rio+20 Conference (Paragraph 283, ‘The Future We Want’). The online platform was launched in beta version in September 2015, with several partnerships announced during the UN Sustainable Development Summit. Following consultations in late 2015, the platform has been further developed in relation to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The new version of the online platform includes search and filtering options that can sort information by SDG, target, partner and country. It also includes space to submit short progress reports, pages for countries taking part in the voluntary national reviews of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), and discussion fora.

In addition to sharing information, the platform seeks to link progress of stakeholder initiatives to follow-up mechanisms of the 2030 Agenda, in particular those taking place under the HLPF.

More information about the online platform is available in the UN publication ‘Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals: A Guide to the Online Platform.’ [Partnerships for SDGs Platform] [Partnerships for the Sustainable Development Goals: A Guide to the Online Platform] [IISD RS Stories on SDG Partnerships Platform]
