The official launch of Forests 2011 will take place during the High-level Segment of the ninth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), on 2 February 2011. The website includes a slide show, calendar of events, planned national activities, and information on the International Forest Film Festival (IFFF), which is currently open for submissions.

Forests 2011 aims to raise awareness on sustainable management, conservation and development of all types of forests. The UNFF is undertaking several communication activities to promote this objective during 2011, and countries around the world are planning national and sub-national events.
