Cuba Accepts Amendment to Annex B to the Kyoto Protocol

The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that Cuba has deposited its instrument of acceptance of that amendment to Annex B of the Kyoto Protocol on 8 September 2011, which allows Belarus to assume a quantified emission reduction target.

Cuban flag12 September 2011: The UNFCCC Secretariat has reported that the Government of Cuba deposited its instrument of acceptance of an amendment to Annex B of the Kyoto Protocol on 8 September 2011.

At the second session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (COP/MOP), held in Nairobi, Kenya from 6-17 November 2006, the parties adopted an amendment to Annex B to the Protocol, allowing Belarus to assume a quantified emission reduction target. The total number of States and regional economic integration organizations that have deposited instruments of acceptance is now 25. The amendment has not yet entered into force.
