March 2004: The Bureau of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) held a briefing on 15 March 2004 in New York on the preparations for the portion of the 12th Session of the CSD that will serve as the Preparatory Committee (PrepCom) for the International Meeting on the 10 year Review of the Barbados Programme of Action (BPOA +10).

The International Meeting is scheduled to be held in Mauritius from 30 August-3 September 2004. During the briefing, participants were alerted to the availability of the Secretary-General’s report on Implementation of the BPOA. The G-77/China announced that it has endorsed the AOSIS Strategy Paper, which was adopted at Inter-regional Preparatory Meeting, held in the Bahamas in January 2004. This document will be formally submitted to the CSD Bureau this week and is expected to serve as the basis for negotiations at the PrepCom.
