FAO - COMIFAC4 October 2014: The Commission des Forêts d’Afrique Centrale (COMIFAC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) convened a regional meeting on measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) for Central Africa.

The meeting reported on progress in implementation of the regional project for the development of national MRV systems in the Congo Basin noting that the South-South cooperation approach has delivered many benefits with regard to enhanced capacity for MRV. The meeting further noted that almost all of the project objectives have been met and, as such, preparation for the second phase should proceed.

The meeting also agreed on recommendations for the second phase of the project, including calling for additional technical support from FAO, ensuring national consultations during project development, and coordinating with the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF).
