On the second day of the tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10), a high-level interactive dialogue with the Heads of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) member organizations discussed the CPF's acheivements over the past two years.

9 April 2013: On the second day of the tenth session of the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF10), a high-level interactive dialogue with the Heads of the Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) member organizations discussed CPF’s achievements over the past two years. CPF Chair and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) Forestry Assistant Director-General, Eduardo Rojas-Briales, led the presentation.
The presentation highlighted a number of publications, including an e-booklet titled ‘Rio+20 and Forests,’ a joint policy submission on the implications of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) for forests. It also noted the Advisory Group on Finance (AGF) study on forest financing, which identifies forest financing knowledge and gaps in information.
Additional publications presented included: the first series of factsheets on sustainable forest management (SFM); a study by the Global Forests Expert Panel on the relationship among carbon, forests and people that highlights the ways and means to maximize positive co-benefits from REDD+; and a study identifying the components of forest degradation and assessing best practices.
The presentation also reported on CPF member participation in Forest Day 5 and 6, and the International Year and Day of Forests. Also mentioned was the CPF event held during Rio+20 on cross-sectoral coordination for a landscape approach to forest management.
Other achievements featured in the discussion included: the first Wangari Maathai award, won by Narayan Kaji Shrestha; the launch of the new CPF logo and website; and participation in the expanding global forest information service designed to provide easy access to news, events and publications on forests and trees.
Finally the presentation provided three key points for the CPF moving forward: strengthening the landscape approach to SFM; increasing cross-sectoral linkages for forest management; and operationalizing sustainable development within the framework of natural resource management.
CPF, a partnership of 14 major forest-related international organizations, institutions and convention secretariats, works to support the work of the UNFF and its member countries, and fosters increased cooperation and coordination on forests.
