Coalition Calls for Reporting of Sustainability Information by Companies

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition has called on UN member States to adopt a global policy framework - as part of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) - under which some private companies would be required to integrate sustainability information in their annual reports and accounts.

The call was made during the UN Private Sector Forum on Sustainable Energy for All.

26 September 2011: The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition has called on UN member States to develop a global policy framework requiring listed and large private companies to integrate sustainability information throughout their annual reports and accounts, or explain why they are unable to do so.The Coalition, led by Aviva Investors, made the call during the UN Private Sector Forum on Sustainable Energy for All, which was held in conjunction with the 66th Session of the UN General Assembly. According to the Coalition, the international policy framework should adhere to the overriding, key principles of transparency and accountability.
