CMS30 April 2014: The Secretariat of the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) has invited CMS National Focal Points to support a UN Environment Programme (UNEP) project aimed at improving coherence and synergy in the implementation of global biodiversity-related conventions.

Support from CMS National Focal Points is sought on two fronts. The first matter concerns the identification of opportunities and options for further enhancing cooperation at the global level through secretariats and their hosting bodies, and through the governance and advisory bodies of biodiversity-related conventions. CMS National Focal Points are invited to complete the relevant questionnaire by 6 June 2014.

The second matter concerns the identification and sharing of best practices at the national level for achieving increased coherence in the implementation of biodiversity-related conventions. The related questionnaire for completion by National Focal Points is due by 9 May 2014.

CMS is also collecting Parties’ insights on the CMS Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) and their viability, with responses requested by 13 June.
