story highlights

The Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves has partnered with the Global Village Energy Partnership to conduct a structured review of the clean cookstoves and fuels industry in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

9 March 2012: Supported by the Accenture Development Partnerships (ADP), the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves (GACC), an initiative of the UN Foundation, has partnered with the Global Village Energy Partnership (GVEP) to conduct a structured review of the clean cookstoves and fuels industry in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

Concurrently, GVEP is preparing its own report on the stoves sector in East Africa, focusing on the development and current status of the stove industry and the Partnership’s own work with improved cookstove entrepreneurs through the Developing Energy Enterprises Programme for East Africa (DEEP EA). Set to be published in early May, the report aims to document the realities of the cook stove industry in East Africa, some of the challenges experienced, as well as opportunities to bridge the gaps in the industry.
