CITES Virtual College Accessible in Chinese

The Virtual College of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has been translated into Chinese in an effort to reach a wider audience and assist Asia in enhancing the capacities of its CITES Authorities.

Already more than 20,000 users have accessed the College, with 8 out of the top 20 user countries located in regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

40th anniversary of CITES26 November 2014: The Virtual College of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has been translated into Chinese in an effort to reach a wider audience and assist Asia in enhancing the capacities of its CITES Authorities. Already more than 20,000 users have accessed the College, with 8 out of the top 20 user countries located in regions in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Meng Xianlin, Executive Director Genera, CITES Management Authority, China, commented that making CITES training materials and courses available on-line in Chinese will assist CITES Chinese authorities and enforcement officers in understanding better the obligations under the Convention. John Scanlon, Secretary-General, CITES, recognized the support of China for making this possible.

The CITES Virtual College also offers courses and materials in English, French and Spanish. Training presentations are also available in Portuguese. [CITES News]
