CITES Secretariat Invites Nominations for Bigleaf Mahogany Working Group

The Working Group on the Bigleaf Mahogany and Other Neotropical Timber Species will include experts and representatives from scientific institutions, NGOs and exporters.

28 October 2010: At the request of the interim Chair of the Plants Committee, the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has invited parties to nominate candidates for participation in the Working Group on the Bigleaf Mahogany and Other Neotropical Timber Species.

Established by the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) to CITES, the Working Group will include: two experts from scientific institutions, two experts from NGOs, and three representatives from organizations of exporters from the three main exporting parties.

Nominations should be sent to the CITES Secretariat before 30 November 2010, and they will be reviewed by the Plants Committee. [CITES Notification]
