CITES Parties Requested to Reflect on Non-Detriment Findings

The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has issued a notification highlighting decisions of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties on non-detriment findings, including the outcomes of the International Expert Workshop on Non-Detriment Findings, and transmitting a request to the parties to report observations on the workshop's outcomes for consideration by the Animals and Plants Committees.

6 January 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) has issued a notification highlighting decisions of the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties on non-detriment findings, including the outcomes of the International Expert Workshop on Non-Detriment Findings.

Following a request from the Animals and Plants Committees, parties are urged to report specific findings and observations on the outcomes of the workshop, including how they could be improved and cases where they have proven to be particularly useful. The deadlines for submitting reports are 17 February 2011 for the 19th meeting of the Plants Committee, and 19 May 2011 for the 25th meeting of the Animals Committee [CITES Notification]
