CITES Announces Premiere of “Rhinos Under Threat”

CITES, in collaboration with UNTV, produced a movie titled "Rhino under Threat" to raise awareness of the current crisis faced by rhinoceros due to illegal killing and international trade in rhino horn.

The movie will premiere on 18 June 2012, during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20).

CITES11 June 2012: The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), in collaboration with UNTV, produced a movie titled “Rhino under Threat,” which aims to raise public awareness of the current crisis faced by rhinoceros due to illegal killing and the international trade in rhino horn.

The movie will be first viewed on 18 June 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD or Rio+20). The premiere will be introduced by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, President of GoodPlanet Foundation, John Scanlon, CITES Secretary-General, Julia Marton-Lefèvre, Director General of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and Sejal Worah, WWF India.

The premiere will be attended by high-level authorities from rhino range States and a representative of the CEO of the Global Environment Facility (GEF). [CITES Announcement]
