CISDL Reports on Civil Society Consultation on Rio+20

Over 35 experts from academia, civil society, the private and public sector, the Canadian Environmental Network and UNEP participated in the consultation, which aimed to inform participants about Rio+20 and opportunities it presents, and invite participants to share opinions and experiences on its key themes and possible results.

The report presents a brief summary of the main recommendations on which there was consensus from participants.

30 October 2011: The Centre for International Sustainable Development Law (CISDL) has published the report of a consultation with Quebec civil society on the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

The consultation, which was held on 21 September 2011, in Montreal, Canada, was organized by CISDL, the Canadian Environmental Network (CEN) and the Regional Office for North America of the UN Environment Program (UNEP). Over 35 experts from academia, civil society, the private and public sector, and CEN and UNEP participated in the consultation, which aimed to inform participants about Rio+20 and opportunities it presents, and invite participants to share opinions and experiences on its key themes and possible results.
