August 2008: The Center for International Forestry Research
(CIFOR) has announced that registration is open for participation in Forest Day
2 , which is to be held on 6 December 2008 during the fourteenth Conference of
the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), in
Poznan, Poland.

Forest Day provides an international, multi-stakeholder
forum on forest and climate change policies at all levels. The event will bring
together forest stakeholders to address: Reducing Emissions from Deforestation
and forest Degradation (REDD); climate change adaptation; poverty, livelihoods,
equity and justice; data collection, baselines and methodologies; rights,
compliance, law and enforcement; and forest investment and environmental
