CGIAR Releases Publication on Collective Action and Property Rights

The resource addresses: the fundamentals of collective action and property rights; rights to resources and collective action for agriculture and natural resource management; changing market relations; mitigating risk; decentralization; gender, collective action and property rights; and strengthening property rights.

January 2011: The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Program on Collective Action and Property Rights (CAPRi) has released a training material guide titled “Resources, Rights, and Cooperation: A Sourcebook on Property Rights and Collective Action for Sustainable Development.” This resource aims to build the capacity of research and development organizations to apply lessons and methods from CAPRi research.

The tool is targeted at development practitioners, trainers and policymakers as well as for use at universities. The chapters focus on: the fundamentals of collective action and property rights; rights to resources and collective action for agriculture and natural resource management; changing market relations; mitigating risk; decentralization; gender, collective action and property rights; and strengthening property rights. The sourcebook is designed to provide general orientation to the issues and practical insights on specific problems and to act as a reference guide.
