CGIAR Names Director for New Programme on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry

6: Forests, Trees and Agroforestry: Livelihoods, Landscapes and Governance brings together four research centers, namely the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and Bioversity International.

8 August 2011: The Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) has named Rober Nasi as the Director of the CGIAR Research Program No. 6: Forests, Trees and Agroforestry: Livelihoods, Landscapes and Governance.

Nasi has been a scientist with the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) since 1999. The research programme brings together four research centers, namely the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF), CIFOR, the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT) and Bioversity International. The programme aims to “enhance the management and use of forests, agroforestry, and tree genetic resources across the landscape from forests to farms.” The five components of the research portfolio include: smallholder production systems and markets; management and conservation of forest and tree resources; landscape management for environmental services, biodiversity conservation and livelihoods; climate change adaptation and mitigation; and impacts of trade and investment on forests and people.
