CGIAR - AUC15 January 2013: Under the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) and the African Union Commission (AUC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate coordination, collaboration and alignment between CGIAR Consortium members and national and regional agricultural initiatives.

Underscoring that more than 50 per cent of CGIAR funding is targeted toward projects in Africa, CGIAR noted the need to ensure that there is a more effective implementation of lessons learned from CGIAR research. The MOU includes: a call to align research with CAADP National Investment Plans; a Science and Technology Agenda for agriculture; a joint plan to support research activities; and joint technology platforms and information sharing.

CAADP is implemented through the AUC and aims to address policy and capacity issues across the African agriculture sector. [CGIAR Press Release] [CAADP Newsletter]
