2 July 2009: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) has released the reports from the 39th meeting of its Methodologies Panel and the 21st meeting of the Small Scale Working Group (SSC WG).

The Methodologies Panel (Meth Panel) met from 22-26 June 2009, at UNFCCC Headquarters in Bonn, Germany. The Panel is charged with developing recommendations to the CDM Executive Board on guidelines for baseline and monitoring methodologies, and preparing recommendations on submitted proposals for new methodologies. At its 39th meeting, the Panel considered 26 proposed new methodologies, and agreed to recommend three for approval and four for non-approval. It was unable to conclude consideration of some cases because of outstanding issues relating to specific cases. The Meth Panel also considered: requests for clarification on, and revision to, approved methodologies; issues of general guidance; and tools. The Panel confirmed that its next meeting will convene from 14-18 September 2009.
The SSC WG held its 21st meeting from 16-19 June 2009, at the same venue, and considered issues relating to baseline and monitoring methodologies for CDM small-scale project activities. At the meeting, the Group considered eight requests for creation of new small-scale methodologies and, inter alia, agreed to recommend one of the new methodologies and not to recommend three. The SSC WG also considered requests for revisions to, or clarifications of, approved methodologies, and agreed to schedule its 22nd meeting from 21-24 September 2009.
