United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change December 2008: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board has published the report of its 44th meeting, which was held from 26-28 November 2008, at the Poznań International Fair Ltd, in Poznań, Poland.

During the meeting, the Board discussed the accreditation of Designated Operational Entities (DOEs) entities and issues relating to CDM afforestation and reforestation projects. The Board also considered baseline methodologies and monitoring and verification plans, and agreed to approve two new methodologies and revise eight approved methodologies. Six methodologies were not approved, but could be revised and resubmitted for reconsideration. On issues relating to small-scale projects, the Board approved two new small-scale methodologies and revised three approved methodologies.
On the CDM Executive Board’s management plan and resources for the work on the CDM, the Board approved the establishment of five posts currently filled by temporary staff and also requested the UNFCCC Secretariat to prepare a draft 2009 management plan, with the view to discussing and approving it at its next meeting. Other issues considered include: the CDM programme of activities; registration of projects; issuance of Certified Emission Reductions and the CDM registry; a draft code of conduct; and relations with Designated National Authorities, Designated Operational and Applicant Entities, and registered accredited observers.
