UNFCCC8 March 2013: At its 72nd meeting, the Executive Board of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) reached agreement on 22 recommendations for possible changes to the mechanism to make it more efficient and effective.

The Board held its 72nd meeting (EB72) from 4-8 March 2013 in Bonn, Germany. The recommendations made by the Board were based on the report of the Secretariat’s experience in implementing the CDM, a summary of stakeholders’ inputs from the public call on possible changes to the CDM modalities and procedures and inputs from the Board itself. The Board agreed to forward these recommendations to the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) for its consideration.

It also considered other governance and management matters, including the status of implementation of the Regional Collaboration Centres initiative and the results of the performance monitoring of designated operational entities (DOEs). It also approved its work plan for 2013, as well as the 2013 work plans of its various panels and working groups.

In addition, the Board considered matters relating to accreditation of DOEs, registration of new project activities, the CDM Programme of Activities, the issuance of Certified Emission Reductions (CERs), as well as various regulatory issues.
