UNFCCC16 April 2015: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Executive Board has approved two new small-scale methodologies on using renewable energy sources to charge electric vehicles, which have been incorporated into the consolidated methodology on emission reductions by electric and hybrid vehicles. The consolidated methodology will now take into account and credit the reduced emissions from charging the vehicles with renewable energy sources.

This decision was taken by the Board at its 83rd meeting, which took place from 13-16 April 2015 in Bonn, Germany. At the meeting, the Board also approved the new large-scale consolidated methodology ‘ACM0025: Construction of a new natural gas power plant,’ which is applicable to project activities that implement new power generation plants that use natural gas as fuel, and displace electricity from the electric power grid or from a specific baseline power generation technology. It also approved various revised small and large-scale methodologies.

The Board also considered matters relating to governance and management of the CDM, as well as relations with forums and other stakeholders. [Publication: Report of 83rd Meeting of the CDM Executive Board] [CDM Press Release]
