23 March 2012: The 13th meeting of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Designated National Authorities (DNA) Forum and Training brought together nearly 100 DNAs to exchange information and lessons learned on various topics related to the CDM, including improving stakeholder consultation, co-benefits of the CDM and attracting investment.

The DNA Forum and Training were held from 20-23 March 2012, in Bonn, Germany, and provided a platform for DNAs to interact with one another, as well as with project developers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the UNFCCC Secretariat staff. The training sessions were held on the first two days and focused on the CDM Programme of Activities (PoA). The Forum, which was held on the last two days, offered DNAs an opportunity to provide input to the CDM Policy Dialogue.

Speaking at the Forum, Giza Martins, co-chair of the DNA Forum underlined the importance of DNAs in promoting sustainable development in their home countries using the CDM. Malin Ahlberg, Co-Chair of the DNA Forum, stressed that the events had provided DNAs with the latest information on the CDM, which would help the DNAs to better promote and oversee the CDM.

The CDM DNA Forum was established by the CDM Executive Board to provide opportunities for DNAs and national focal point representatives to exchange views and share experiences regarding the CDM, and to provide feedback to the CDM Executive Board on relevant issues. [CDM Press Release]
