CDB Secretariat Trains Regional Advisors on Renewed BCH

The workshop aimd at enabling regional advisors of the Biosafety Clearing-House (BCH) to assist countries in the development and expansion of national BCH activities.

4 February 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) hosted a training workshop for regional advisers on the renewed operations and content of the Biosafety Clearing-House (BCH), from 31 January-4 February 2011.

The workshop was attended by 32 BCH regional advisors, who will deliver training on the BCH to 50 participating countries. The training focused on the revisions to BCH features, an in-depth analysis of the project details, and feedback for making improvements to the BCH. Training participants are expected to assist countries in the design, development and expansion of national BCH activities, such as information registration and national data processing.

The workshop was organized under the framework of a joint initiative by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and Global Environment Facility (GEF), “Project for Continued Enhancement of Building Capacity for Effective Participation in the Biosafety Clearing-House.” [BCH News Release]
