CCAFS, CTA, Farming First Release Guide to Negotiations on Agriculture under UNFCCC

Farming First, the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS) and the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) have published an updated report on engaging in negotiations on agriculture under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), titled 'Guide to Negotiations on Agriculture and Climate Change – Toolkit for Communications and Outreach.'

CCAFS - CTA - Farming FirstApril 2015: The CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) and Farming First have published an updated report on engaging in negotiations on agriculture under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), titled ‘Guide to Negotiations on Agriculture and Climate Change – Toolkit for Communications and Outreach.’

The report aims to provide farmers, farming organizations, agricultural development organizations and negotiators with knowledge and communication tools to engage in a broad range of outreach activities related to the role of agriculture in climate change negotiations.

The guide discusses: tools designed to provide knowledge, information and support at various stages of agriculture-related policy discussions; key messages relevant to the UNFCCC process in general and the June 2015 Bonn Climate Change Conference in particular; agriculture in the UNFCCC process, including ways in which agriculture is being brought into discussions under the Subsidiary Body on Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA), the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) and the Conferences of the Parties (COP); and lessons to be learnt from REDD+.

The report also includes: a section addressing frequently asked questions; factsheets with key statistics to communicate challenges and opportunities related to agriculture and climate change; websites; infographics; briefs and papers with further information on all topics discussed in the toolkit; and examples.
