The compendium provides governments at all levels, scientists and other stakeholders, as well as indigenous and local communities, with up-to-date information on the monitoring of status and trends in biodiversity and how monitoring information can be communicated. It was prepared by the UN Environment Programme-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (UNEP-WCMC) and published by the 2010 Biodiversity Indicators Partnership, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
