CBD Secretariat Prepares for Southeast Asia Workshop on the GTI

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has announced a regional capacity-building workshop for the Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI) National Focal Points in countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

It will aim to facilitate implementation of the programme of work for the GTI in harmony with the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020.

29 April 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has announced a regional capacity-building workshop for National Focal Points of the Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI). The workshop for countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) will be held in Manila, the Philippines, on 22 June 2011.

The workshop is organized by the CBD Secretariat in collaboration with the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity. Its objectives are: to strengthen national capacities in taxonomy based on the needs assessment conducted for the region in 2009, and to facilitate the implementation of the programme of work for the GTI in harmony with the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020.
