CBD28 May 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is inviting Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to complete a survey to gather information for the second assessment and review of the Protocol’s effectiveness.

The survey aims to gather complementary information relating to indicators laid out in the Protocol’s Strategic Plan 2011-2020 that could not be obtained through the second national reports or other existing mechanisms. The Secretariat will review the information submitted and make it available to Parties for consideration at the seventh Meeting of the Parties to the Protocol (COP-MOP 7) to be held in 2014.

Parties are asked to complete the survey on the Biosafety Clearinghouse by 15 July 2013. [CBD Notification]
