CBD Secretariat Invites ILC Nominations for Advisory Selection Committee of Voluntary Trust Fund, Calls for Pledges

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has invited indigenous and local communities (ILCs) to nominate representatives for the Advisory Selection Committee of the Voluntary Trust Fund for the participation of ILC representatives in the work of the Convention.

In addition, the Secretariat has called for contributions to the Voluntary Fund.

4 March 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has invited indigenous and local communities (ILCs) to nominate representatives for the Advisory Selection Committee of the Voluntary Trust Fund for the participation of ILC representatives in the work of the Convention. In addition, the Secretariat has called for contributions to the Voluntary Fund.

The Secretariat has invited parties, governments and relevant funding institutions and mechanisms to contribute to the Voluntary Fund, noting that the effective participation of ILCs is essential to the work of the Convention and the achievement of its three objectives.

ILC Nominations for the Advisory Committee should be submitted no later than 30 April 2011. The Advisory Selection Committee consists of seven ILC representatives, nominated by ILCs, from the seven geo-cultural regions recognized by the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues.
