3 December 2010: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated two reports containing highlights of global celebrations of the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB) in October and November 2010.

The October report highlights, among others: the seminar “Europe and the Environment: Climate Change and Biodiversity in the 21st Century,” held from 1-7 October 2010, in the island of Kithira, Greece; the release of The Census of Marine Life; and activities undertaken during the fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety and the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD. The November report highlights a number of activities and developments, including the first Science Film Festival Indonesia, the resolution against environmental crime adopted during the INTERPOL General Assembly, the International Tiger Forum, and New Zealand Ecological Society annual conference.
