CBD Secretariat Circulates Questionnaire for GEF-6 Financial Needs Assessment

CBD7 October 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated a questionnaire to assist governments in assessing funds needed for the implementation of the CBD for the sixth replenishment period of the Global Environment Facility (GEF-6).

The questionnaire was designed by the five-member Expert Team established in response to Decision X/26 of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to prepare a report on the full assessment of funding necessary and available for the implementation of the Convention for the period July 2014-June 2018.

It contains questions addressing: the total country needs for funds on biodiversity for the period 2010-2014; the amount covered by domestic sources and the source of funding; and the percentage met by non-GEF external sources and the source of funding. Issue areas include biodiversity protection; policy development and administration; sustainable use and management; and sustainable production and consumption. [CBD Notification] [Questionnaire]
