GBIF22 May 2015: The Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), a partner institution to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), has issued two surveys to seek input from stakeholders in Africa on African biodiversity.

The first survey targets stakeholders who hold or manage data on African biodiversity and the second is for decision makers requiring access to such data. Responses to these surveys, due by 29 May 2015, will help guide priorities for regional funding under a multi-year programme, titled ‘Biodiversity Information for Development,’ which is funded by the European Commission. The programme aims to improve the availability of biodiversity information within the African, Caribbean and Pacific region to support science and policy needs, especially in regard to threatened species, protected areas and invasive species.
