CBD Publishes Report of Workshop on City Biodiversity Index

Attended by technical experts on urban biodiversity conservation and planning, as well as city officers responsible for implementation and/or management of biodiversity and urban projects and programmes, the workshop revised and enhanced the 23 indicators composing the Index.

The City Biodiversity Index constitutes a component of the CBD indicator framework for monitoring implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 at the city level.

CBD16 December 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has published the final report and documents related to the third expert workshop on the development of the City Biodiversity Index, which was held from 11-12 October 2011, in Singapore City, Singapore. Also known as the Singapore Index, the City Biodiversity Index constitutes a component of the CBD indicator framework for monitoring implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 at the city level.

The workshop was attended by 26 technical experts on urban biodiversity conservation and planning, as well as city officers responsible for implementation and/or management of biodiversity and urban projects and programmes. They revised and enhanced the 23 indicators composing the Index, based also on the input from over 35 cities testing its application. [CBD Notification] [Workshop Report and Documents]
